From the Etang De Thau to Pézen

During this stay, you will discover two typical cities which represents the Languedoc region cultural heritage, where diversity intermix between sea and vines. Sète, maritime city where cultural richness equals its unique culinary heritage, and Pézenas, historic stop in the heart of the vineyard, town of terroir and full of Art history.

A true inland sea, the Etang De Thau is separated by the Mediterranean Sea only by a bead of sand. A natural environment unequaled in Europe, which owns an exceptional ecological diversity. Cradle of the shellfish farming, the region is famous for its gastronomy and is also at the origin of the Picpoul of Pinet Appellation.

Near the Mediterranean Sea is located Pézenas, which, many centuries ago, was the capital of the Languedoc. Pézenas owns an exceptional historical and architectural heritage. Paradise for the second-hand dealers and city of Arts, its maze of little streets will lead you on the Molière path, while meeting the craftsmen who settled there.

Your tour will start at Sète, singular island, also named the « Venise of Languedoc ». Embark for a boat tour of the city through its channels, under its nine bridges and admire its colorful facades. You will stop at Bouzigues, charming little fisherman village, which has preserved its charm of yesterday. Between vineyard landscapes and lagoons areas, some wine tastings will make you discover two unique wines, the Picpoul and the Noilly Prat vermouth.

On the second day you will be dazzled by an ancien Cisterian abbey, before to enjoy the sweetness of life in one of the most emblematic villages of Languedoc.The wine tastings of the day will make you discover the Appellations of Languedoc des Grès De Montpellier and of Pézenas.

Day 1

    Arrival at your 19th Century old ***hotel in the heart of Sète, historic place where you will enjoy the light from the south, the charm of its channels and its quiet under-glass patio.

  2. 10am Boat trip through the channels

    Visit of Sète through its channels. Discover the city under a different angle, on a always quiet water. Three centuries of history are watching you.

  3. 12:00pm Open lunch

    Open lunch, at Sète or around the Etang De Thau. Don’t hesitate to ask your advisor for the best addresses, or add a lunch to your personalized tour.

  4. 2:00pm Port of Bouziques

    Discover this high shellfish farming spot and small fisherman village completely oriented to the Etang which is its main resource.

  5. 2:30pm Picpoul of Pinet wine tasting

    Visit of a winery at Pinet where you will taste all the wines produced there. You also will walk in the vines to discover this unique grape variety.

  6. 3:30pm Visit of the Noilly Prat Cellar at Marseillan - wine tasting

    From the cellar to the enclosure where hundreds of oak barrels are exposed to the Mediterranean sun, your guide will escort you to unveil the unique fabrication process of the Original Dry Noilly Prat. The visit will end by a tasting of this indispensable ingredient to the making of the famous Dry Martini.

  7. 5:00pm Back to Sète

    Take time to wander on this singular island; discover its typical quarters and the heritage of its maritime traditions. You can add a guided visit to your personalized tour. Don’t hesitate to ask your advisor.

  8. 8:00pm Dinner at the Fisherman auction

    Dinner at a fish restaurant in the fisherman auction place to discover the richness of this unique culinary heritage. Your will taste fresh local products coming from an artisanal fishing.

Day 2

  1. 10:00am Valmagne abbey - visit and wine tasting

    You will discover the Cathedral of wines, an ancien Cisterian abbey classified as historical monument since 1947. During a guided visit, you will admire its cloister, its gardens, its fountain and the chapter house. Your visit will end by tasting the ecological wines of the estate.

  2. 12:00pm Visit of Pézenas

    You will discover Pézenas, city full of history and art, which was able to preserve in its historical center End-of-Middle Age important houses and 17th and 18th century old mansions. Wandering on its little streets, you will discover the work of many craftworkers which gave to the city the label of « Ville et Metier d’art ».

  4. 3:00pm Molière Scenovision

    One can't evoke Pézenas without evoking Molière. You will discover his history during the visit of this town, on the steps of this famous author. Immersed in a 17th Century old ambiance, where in-relief picture projections and exceptional decor will immerge you in the incredible story of Jean Baptiste Poquelin.

  5. 4:00pm Wine tasting

    You will visit a mythic Languedoc winery, a unique place rich in history with diverse soils which sublimates its wines.
