Cradle of shellfish farming, the region is also known for its fine food. A boat trip will bring you from Sète channels to the Etang De Thau. Shellfish lovers will enjoy oysters from Bouzigues, and other local specialties, aromatized by the AOC Picpoul de Pinet.

SÈTE AND THE ETANG DE THAU
Guided tour

The Etang De Thau is a true inland sea, only separated from the Mediterranean sea by a small bead of sand. It is a natural and unique environment in Europe and it owns an exceptional ecological diversity.

Your tour starts at Sète named « the Venise of Languedoc ». You will visit its channels by boat, from the marin cemetery to the Pointe Courte, the authentic fisherman quarter.

The tour will continue on the Etang De Thau, browsing through the shellfish farming area in order to observe the production sites.
You will stop at Bouzigues, small oysters producers village which has kept its traditions and its Mediterranean charm.
A gastronomic halt at a typical shellfish farm will be offered to you.

Your afternoon will be dedicated to the discovery of unique wines. Your tour of the Etang De Thau will lead you at the vines at Pinet, in order to taste its famous Picpoul.
Then, you will end at Marseillan port in order to find the secrets of its famous Vermouth.

  1. 9:30am Meeting point at the agency.

    Presentation of the day with coffee.

  2. 10:00am Boat tour at the channels.

    Visit of Sète through its channels towards the Etang De Thau.

  3. 11:30am Visit of Bouzigues and the museum of the Etang De Thau.

    You will be greeted by our guide and will visit the museum of the Etang De Thau. The museum is located at the fisherman port and introduces the visitor to the evolution of fishing and shellfish production technics.

  4. 12:30pm Lunch at an authentic shellfish farm.

    You will discover an authentic shellfish farm and will taste the local food specialties. A gourmet halt, your feet in the water with a gorgeous view of the Mont Saint Clair.

  5. 1:30pm Visit of Bouzigues port.

    Mainly dedicated to shellfish production, this small fisherman village was built looking to the Etang, from which it uses its resources. Take a moment to take pictures in this magnifique site.

  6. 2:30pm A taste of Picpoul of Pinet wine.

    Visit a vinery at Pinet where you will taste all the several wines produced there. You will also walk in the vines to discover these unique grapes and where our expert will teach you more about the process of wine growing.

  7. 4:00pm Visit of Noilly Prat cellars at Marseillan.

    You will discover the cradle of the famous Noilly Prat Vermouth house. From the cellars to the enclosure where hundreds of oak barrels are exposed in the Mediterranean sun, your guide will share with you the unique process of elaboration of the Noilly Prat original Dry. The visit will end by tasting this indispensable ingredient for a Dry Martini Cocktail.
