This tour is a subdued mix between garrigues and wines, between villages and mansions, between ponds and valleys, between legends and traditions, between nature and heritage. Wine lovers will not been mistaken, the Corbières and the Minervois form the best Languedoc vintages. We offer you to encounter winegrowers. There are many proofs of this medieval occitan past. Once a path land, it is now a welcoming land offering thousands of treasures.

From Narbonne to Minerve

Your stay will start with the visit of Narbonne which was built in 118 BC. The senate of Rome will set its first colony outside Italy and will name it Narbo Martius, future capital of the Provencia Narbonensis. The city under the Roman occupation was one of the biggest ports of the Mediterranean Sea. Narbonne owns a very rich architectural heritage we can still admire today: the palace of the archbishops, the « Halles », the « Canal de la Robine », the merchants bridge... You will have a wine tasting at one of the most known wine estates from the Clape and a second one when arriving at your ***hotel.

The second day will be dedicated to visit Gruissan, one of the most attracting and picturesque halts of the coast, which port is located in the heart of a natural site, with its beaches, its chalets on stilts and the salines of the St Martin island. You will then taste the wines from the winery of the « tall blond » actor Pierre Richard.

For lunch, we suggest you to discover typical restaurants at the famous « Halles of Narbonne ». Within a few kilometers, you will discover the Abbey of Frontfoide which offers a Cathedral dimension magnificent Roman church and its ogival cloister, all surrounded by a roses-and-terrace gardens. You will then have two wine tasting from the « AOP Corbières » in Boutenac and in Escales before to discover the charming village of Homps and the « Canal Du Midi ». In the late afternoon, you will discover a charming mansion in a small occitan village where you will have dinner.

The last day, we will invite you to discover the village of Saint Chinian, and its wines of schists. Then you will visit one of the most beautiful villages in France which gave its name to one of the most famous Languedoc Appellations, Minerve. After lunch, you will have the opportunity to discover an oil mill and the museum Amphoralis.

Day 1

  1. 2:00pm Arrival at the ***hotel

    Arrival at Narbonne at your ***hotel where you will receive your road-book and the different accreditations including entrance tickets.

  2. 3:00pm Narbonne - « This dear town of my childhood »

    Take time to visit Narbonne, walking with your guide who will make you discover this place full of history, once cradle of the Roman era and then residence of some powerful archbishops and viscounts.

  3. 5:00pm Wine tasting

    We will invite you to taste six wines from the « AOP La Clape » at one of the most famous wineries of Fleury D’Aude, standing at the feet of the sea and the ponds.

  4. 6:00pm Back to Narbonne

    Take time to relax at your ***hotel; take advantage of its location right in the middle of the vines of La Clape.

  5. 7:00pm Wine tasting

    You will take time to discover the winery cellar at your hotel and to taste several wines from this winery, but also to taste some other winery owner’s Appellations.

  6. 8:30pm Dinner

    Dinner will be served at the restaurant of the ***hotel.

Day 2

  1. 9:00am Gruissan

    The sky, the sun and the sea share their blessings between several fine sand beaches. The famous « Plage des Chalets » (on stilts) which was immortalized by Jean Jacques Beneix (37,2 le matin) movie, offers a warm and original decor. The beach of Mateille between lake and sea is standing at the feet of the « Massif de la Clape » which brings its final touch to this mosaic portrait of Gruissan. You will discover the salines of the St Martin island in the middle of this landscape.

  2. 10:30am Wine tasting

    Wine tasting at Gruissan at the famous actor Pierre Richard winery.

  3. 12:00pm Open lunch

    Open lunch at the « Halles » of Narbonne, or near the abbey of Fontfroide.

  4. 2:00pm Visit of an abbey

    You will benefit from the guided visit of the Abbey of Fontfroide and its garden. Along the Domitian way, enclosed by 200 meters high mountains, this incredibly preserved abbey is standing fiercely. This Cisterien artwork is one of the biggest in France.

  5. 3:00pm Wine tasting

    A few kilometers after the abbey, you will cross the famous wine village of Boutenac, which gave its name to one of the most prestigious Languedoc Appellations and you will discover one of the most famous wineries of the area.

  6. 4:00pm Wine tasting

    About 30min away from Boutenac, you will discover the village of Escales where you will taste exceptional wines from one of the flagship wineries of the area.

  7. 5:00pm Homps and the Canal Du Midi

    Take time to visit the village of Homps, which once sheltered a commandery from the « ordre des Hospitaliers » headquarters. The main attraction is the marina where you can have nice boat trips on the « Canal du Midi » and on the lake of Jouarres which borders the village.

  8. 7:00pm Arrival at the hotel

    Arrival at a charming mansion located at Quarante in the Herault Department where you will relax.

  9. 8:30pm Dinner

    Dinner at the restaurant of the hotel.

Day 3

  1. 10:00am St Chinian

    St Chinan, famous for its quality wines, is also known for the remains of a 9th century old Carolingian monastery and for its church which possesses an 18th century organ classified as Historical monument. You will take advantage to visit the House of Wines and taste wines from the local Appellation.

  2. 11:00am Visit of Minerve

    Minerve called the Stone Fortress, is resting on an exceptional geological site. This curiosity is the fruit between the union of two rivers, the Cesse and the Brion who have dug canyons and created natural bridges. Minerve gave its name to a structured wine, the Minervois, which first vines have been planted by the Romans. After this visit, you will discover a cellar in the center of the village, and taste the local nectar.

  3. 12:00pm Lunch

    Open lunch at the village or around it.

  4. 2:30pm Visit « Odysee de l’Olive »

    Guided visit in a working olive mill, in the shade of olive trees, to discover oil fabrication secrets and where you will follow, step-by-step, the preparation of olives, its cut technics and gathering manipulation.

  5. 4:00pm Amphoralis

    Plunge into the world of Roman era potters. This museum which overlooks archaeological excavations is a unique site in Europe. You will discover the methods of fabrication, cooking and marketing as they were executed during the Gallo Roman era.
